Creative writing helps children learn to think outside of the box and leads to the development of problem-solving skills. It is believed to focus on students’ self-expression and involves more than putting words together to form sentences. Students are to carefully select words, plan the storyline, develop strong characters and revise and edit his or her work. Writing about something they choose to write about helps children practice good grammar and spelling skills without seeming like a lesson or work.
