The love of reading and writing
       Dear Readers,

I welcome you as the initiator of this blog. Please, enjoy yourselves.

The topic is love for reading and writing. All of you have probably read at least a dozen books and have your personal opinions about them.

First thing first, I shall speak about myself. My fondness of reading was inherited from my mother, who is a "book-addict”. Yet, sadly, I ended up with not the best choice of books, as far as common stereotypes go. It was mostly fantasy and horror stories. Most of my favourite authors are either Russian (such as Bulgakov, whom I still do not understand completely, and Dostoevsky, whom I hardly understand at all) or translated Americans (Andre Norton, Ursula le Guin, Adelle Lorienne Sessler – quite a womanly collection). Many of my classmates may boast a far more diverse choice of literature, yet for me reading is merely a pleasure, so I do not mind.
As I have already mentioned, reading is fun. It is probably due to my lively imagination, which constantly needs something to digest. I find pleasure in imagining myself as one of the characters of a book I read or even building an alternative story.
In that imagined turmoil is where my "love of writing”, if I may say so, first discovered itself. My thoughts were those: I can make a story up, so why not write it down? That was at the age of six, so you may imagine how crappy my stories were. They have not improved much since. Yet, I keep going on, because I like it. And maybe, just maybe, one day you will hear about me as a great writer.
Books have played a certain role in my life. What about your’s? Do you have a book, which influenced you and your point of view?

Sincerely yours
Ivlin NightRoad I

Reading books. A book is one of the greatest wonders of the world. I think that we can’t live without them. We learned a lot of interesting things from books. I am sure that books play a very important role in our life. Thanks to book we can talk to people who lived in different ages and countries.
Book develops our feelings and emotions, it makes us think, suffer and rejoice in characters. It’s also a source of knowledge and useful information about all sorts of things. Books of fiction are imaginary stories. The writer makes us the characters and events. Sometimes the plot of the story is based on real events. There are following kinds of fiction: tales, myths, legends, poetry, plays and novels. But mostly I like fantasy because it carries into me away fantastic world. I believe that even the Internet and various fascinating film can’t replace the pleasure that a person gets from the book.
I agree with all the previous entries of my fellow students, that books are of the best creation of man. Now people begin to use more and more computer technologies and forget about reading. People don’t read paper books, they began to read electronic books, which is from my point of view the main problem of own generation.

I think that nowadays people are not like those who lived 100 or 200 years ago. In the past there were no computers or TVs so their only hobby was reading books in the 19th century. Young ladies for example read different French romances and of course they were about love. Little children read adventure novels about brave knights and heroes. After that they imagined themselves characters of those books. So you can see people were more educated and more interesting than ones nowadays.
Some of us thinking that reading is something boring and unuseful. “Why do I need to read books and why do I need to find information there? What’s wrong with the tally or computer?” they usually say. In my opinion reading is very interesting and a really helpful hobby. In Russia there are fewer and fewer readers every year. It is a very serious and important problem. Most teenagers think that reading is for nerds. Different scientists and teachers of Russian literature try to encourage people to read books. I can’t understand how people can be interested in reading books less then playing computer games. It is so fascinating and enjoyable to read books, touch there pages and feel the smell of the book. I personally started to read when I was 7 at school. How I prefer to read since-fiction literature and of course classical. I think it is a pity to hear that people lost their interest in reading books. And my advice to all people from all over the world is: “Read more books because first of all it helps you to enlarge your vocabulary and of course get more useful information”. And in my opinion reading books is our future and it depends on us.

“Books and friends should be few but good,” says an English proverb. The book is certainly one of the greatest human inventions. It is a friend and a teacher. We learn many things by reading them. Books teach people to live. After reading some of them it is easy to understand what should be done and what must not be done. One can learn a lot by reading books.
I'm fond of reading. In my opinion, books are a source of emotional inspiration and romantic feelings. Reading is very useful, because books enrich our experience with that of the other people. Besides, books help me to continue my own education.
I'm sure that a reader lives a richer life than a non-reader. The time spent on a good book is never wasted. Reading is a rewarding pastime.
I enjoy books of different genres: love and detective stories, thrillers and historical novels, tales, works after classical and modern writers. I'm a great lover not only of the Russian but of the English and American literature as well. Among my favourite writers are N. Gogol and A. Chekhov, A. Pushkin and K. Paustovskiy, W. Shakespeare and Ch. Dickens, M. Twain and E. Hemingway to name only a few. Since I learn the English language, I try to read English books in the original.
I can't imagine my life without reading. Books teach us what is right and what is wrong, to understand the world and people in it, they build up our character and at the same time tell us exciting stories.

Once again, my dear readers, I am amazed by the popularity of reading. Isn't it wonderful that all of us have the essential factors to enjoy different literature!
I have read numerous accounts on personal attitudes to reading and personal preferences. It seems, that most of the literature you read belongs to the Russian Golden Collection. Without any doubt, Pushkin and Dostoevskiy are masters, yet I would not believe it if you said that all you read only the authors, assigned by the school program. I'd be delighted to hear more about books one chooses to pass time, if possible, and of modern writers. You may criticize them if you see fit, for that is another skill reading teaches us - critical thinking.
Looking forward to reading your posts and opinions. biggrin

Nowadays reading books is very important. If you want to have a good job you should read very much. People who read a lot have a a fluent speech. When people read a lot they learn many useful words. Now there are many libraries in the world. I personally don't like reading but I know that reading helps develop ourselves. Most of all I like reading novels. For example I liked "White Bim - Black Ear", "Shot". These books are easy to read. People who read a lot can also write correctly.

[color=red]First of all reading is a very important skill at all ages.It keeps you up to date with idioms, your vocabulary and enhances your grammar. You may have noticed that your parents make you read books from an early age to get used to reading .At first you will start with children's stories but if you hunger for more intellect then you may move on to grown up books. From ancient times people began to read and write on clay tablets. wood pieces and papyrus. Books were quite common in ancient Rome: We know that there were many book sellers and the first public library was founded in 39 BC. Reading has always been and will be. We get information, news, facts, everyday with the help of this unique ability called "Reading" If i didnt know how to read i would go mad. There are many famous writers and poets: A.S Pushkin, William Shakespear, Mark Twain, Daniel Defoe and many others. Without these famous people i think there wouldnt even be such a thing as literature and subsequently reading. Poems help us too, they enhance our imagination and improve our memory. Lots of us professions such as: Buisness men, Presidents, Must have a high intellect and the source of this intellect comes from reading books, newspapers, magazines and facts. If you want to become a successfull person you must read fast and fluently, there for whenever you have time to relax, read a book !!!

I think that it is important to read books because reading books teaches you to spell correctly and enlarges your imagination. A lot of people think that nowadays you don't have to read books , because the Internet and TV replace books. I don't agree with them , because the owners of TV channels have there own profit. But writers instead want to teach people to do good things , to become educated. In my opinion this is the difference in books, written with love and care and some owners of the Internet sites. The most interesting books that I've read are Childhood, Teenage, Youth by Leo Tolstoy. Amphibian man. I don't really remember when I started to read but I think that I was about 4 or 6. To tell the truth I don't like to read but sometimes my parents make me read books. and after I have read one I'm telling myself that i will read another book that will be as interesting as the previous one.

I started reading at an early age, when I was about 3-4 years old. I finished the first book at the age of 5. It was called "Booratino". The book had a lot of pictures, and the letters were very large. When I was 7 and a half I read an English book Pinoccio, but afterwards they were only Russion books. The next English book was Robinson Crusoe by Danial Defoe. when I was 12 years old. Now I like adventure books. Now I like to read advanture books. I think that reading is very useful - it in large your imagination, it will help you get information.

I read a variety of books daily. I am not forced to read certain books as it is impossible to make me read something i dont like as i get bored and create a dull enviroment. I havent read a book in a while so my mum decided to give me a hint to visit my local library, so i did. I asked the librarian for a suitable book and the category was: Adventure. She came up with a perfect book for me, by the name: Alpha Force. That was one of the best books i have ever read, i felt the ecxitment streaming through me while i was reading that wonderful story. The story was about 4 kids creating their own Mission in Quato and catching a drugs baron. They had a twisted adventure with a touch of fear that made me read quite a lot and over 20 Pages, i felt like a achivied something and it felt great. cool A regular reading session can hold lots of knowledge and at the same time fun. I wont be bothered to go to the Library and borrow some more editions.

In my opinion, contemporary life is impossible without reading. The influence of literature on people’s mind is great. Regular reading enriches your knowledge of the world and helps to form your personality. Together with the characters of the book, you can find yourself in different countries and have a lot of adventures. The process of reading demands lots of thinking on the part of the readers, that’s why it exists not only for entertainment. Reading often promotes the creation of some new qualities in the person. For example, we try to look like our book heroes: to be brave, honest, to be intelligent and be true friends. I am sure to say that books are the greatest wonder of the world. It gives us a unique chance to link up with different authors, who lived hundreds and thousands years ago.
I understand very well that reading plays an important role in our life, but I can’t say that I am a fan of reading. Firstly, because I have not enough time to read the hole book and if I read a chapter per day, I forget what was happening in the beginning. Secondly, I’m not keen on reading because my parents didn't accustom me to reading in the childhood. But sometimes I come across really interesting books. For example, some books from the list of home reading in Literature carry me away, such as “Eugene Onegin”, “The Dead Souls” and “The Hero of Our Time”.
Ivlin NightRoad, it is great, that you can write different stories. It is a hard work and one needs a talent to do it. But I can only dream about such things.
